What is the CW SSP-ASD?

The Central West School Support Program-Autism Spectrum Disorders (CW SSP-ASD) is a provincially funded program in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. The goal of the program is to enhance supports to students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
Our team does not work directly with identified students or their families but rather supports School Board professionals in 10 School Boards and 1 Provincial School for the Deaf across the Central West Region(including Halton, Peel, Waterloo, Wellington and Dufferin).
What Services Do We Offer?
Our services are provided alongside pre-existing ASD teams or Special Education Services within their School Boards in the following areas:
- Consultation:
Includes collaborative discussion with individual professionals or groups to assist them in their work with identified students
- Training
Includes additional professional development opportunities on a variety of topics related to ASD
- Resource Development and Distribution
Assist School Boards in identifying, developing and sharing resource materials relevant for educators of students with an ASD
- Planning
A joint approach with School Boards to promote efficient use of resources and to build strong partnerships in service delivery to students with an ASD
